Sharing Good News

Yesterday was a big day for my students of the previous batch as they received their examination results. Most of them were so happy and satisfied with the results, and so do I. 💃💃Their efforts paid off, burning the midnight oils was really worth it. My Module 1 class scored highest of all classes. 15 out 21 of them got A solid for Physics. As the lecturer who taught them for 1 whole semester , I'm elated with this good news.

It maybe sounds a bit arrogant, but I personally do not want to deny my own effort towards my students' achievement.🙈 Despite of my hectic timetable of my life, I managed to arrange extra session for my weak students. It is demanding as they really need favor on strengthening their content knowledge. It was quite a struggle for me to juggle with all responsibilities I have, the master assignments, work stuffs and non-stop things to do list, my children and also the charity work.

Apart from the consultation, I believe that the method I used in teaching has also contributed to my students' development in their learning. I'm so grateful that I pursue my master in Physics education as it helped me a lot throughout developing my skills, content and pedagogical knowledge in Physics. You can read through few latest entries in this blog which I shared a lot on the reflection of the things I learnt during my master course. Upon receiving those new knowledge and skill, I feel sooo motivated every time I enter my lesson nowadays, feels like to apply everything I learned especially from the Technology and Innovation in Teaching & Learning subject. Yes! Everything!Hope I can keep it up!

I'm a happy teacher😻

Magnetic Field

Magnetic Field, B To define Magnetic field, we start with the word field. Field means a region or space. The magnetic field is defined as a region where the magnetic force can be felt. In other words, a force (repel/attract) can be felt in the region. Bar Magnet We will find that 2 North(N) poles will repel if we bring the poles of two bar magnets together. Same goes to that of 2 South(S) poles. However North and South pole attracts. The strength and direction of the field are represented by lines. Knowing that, the direction of magnetic field is from North to South. Magnetic field is able to be detected by 1) Compass (have been used over 2000 years 2) Hall Probe Applications: Swipe cards, Video tapes & Computer discs -use magnetism to store information. History: In 1819, Hans Christian Oersted noticed that a compass needle was deflected by an electric current in a nearby wire. Remember!! the compass is used to detect any existance of magnetic field. By th...

Root Mean Square Current (I rms)

Root Mean Square Current As mentioned in the previous post , the value of AC is always changing. Then, how do we measure its value??? We could not use the maximum value of the current Io, because it only occurs at a moment. The average current is ZERO . Hence, one effective value that we could use the root mean square value. Irms . The formula for   Irms is given by: where Io is maximum current. Irms is the value that is equivalent to a steady direct current .  We can investigate this by comparing 2 circuits containing lamp each. circuit 1 uses battery as the source, while circuit 2 uses a.c. supply. AC supply is adjusted so that both lamps are equally bright. At this point, DC and AC supplies are transferring energy to the lamps at the same rate (Power).  By equating the Power of both circuits, we can deduce the equation of  Irms as above. Therefore, the d.c. voltage equals the r.m.s. value of the a.c. voltage.  From the the graph below and th...

Deformation of Solids

Deformation of Solids 💗  Solid is characterized by very packed particles and they are not free to move around within the substance. A solid can change its shape when pressure is applied to it. The forces applied to the solids will amend the position of the solid particles and its spacings. This will then changes the external structure or shape and size of the solid, which defines deformation of solids.   Stress  is the measure of the force required to cause solid deformation. A   strain  is the measure of the degree of deformation.  The strain is given as a fractional change in either the length, geometry or volume. It is a dimensionless number.  The greater the stress , the greater the strain . The proportionality constant in this relation is known as the   Young's modulus,Y  .                                    ...
